The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.
$ L* l( R; d+ n0 uThey\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".6 g% y9 f. M3 Z( O
The Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff.
! m! R! c8 k" Q) A: i RIt had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty.
* w/ V0 V: y/ `4 _4 cThe union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
